El premio Grammy al mejor álbum de bluegrass es un galardón entregado en el contexto de los premios Grammy, una ceremonia establecida en 1958 y originalmente llamada premios Gramophone, a los artistas por canciones de calidad dentro del género del rock. Los premios de cada categoría son entregados en una ceremonia anual por The Recording Academy de los Estados Unidos con el fin de «reconocer a los logros artísticos, la pericia técnica y la excelencia en general en la industria de la grabación, sin tener en cuenta la cantidad de ventas del álbum o su posición en las listas».

Originalmente llamado premio Grammy a la mejor grabación de bluegrass (vocal o instrumental), se entregó por primera vez a Bill Monroe en 1989. En 1990 y 1991, la categoría se renombró a mejor grabación de bluegrass y en el primer año, se hizo exclusivo para sencillos en vez de álbumes. En 1992, se otorgó bajo el nombre de mejor álbum de bluegrass. A partir de 1993, se incluyeron entre los ganadores los productores, ingenieros de sonido y personal relacionado con la mezcla además de los artistas. En 1995 y 1997, solo los productores de álbumes recopilatorios recibieron el premio.

Hasta el año 2013, Alison Krauss es la artista con más victorias en esta categoría, con un total de seis premios, cinco de ellos en conjunto con su banda Union Station. Entre los que lo recibieron dos veces se cuentan Jim Lauderdale como Nashville Bluegrass Band. Se otorgó solamente a artistas originarios de Estados Unidos hasta la fecha. The Seldom Scene tiene el récord de mayor cantidad de nominaciones sin haber ganado, con cuatro en total.
